HP OpenView Performance Core is the lightweight performance data collection and storage engine within the HP OpenView/HP Operations management suite. Developed by Hewlett-Packard, it gathers essential system and application metrics across Windows, UNIX, and Linux servers and stores them in an embedded time‑series repository (CODA). These metrics are exposed to agent policies, Smart Plug-ins, and reporting tools, enabling proactive monitoring, alerting, and capacity trending with minimal overhead.

Key capabilities:

• Collects CPU, memory, disk, filesystem, process, and network utilization metrics, plus custom application counters.
• Provides a consistent data model and interfaces for HP Operations Manager policies and integrations.
• Integrates with HP Performance Agent for deep-dive instrumentation and with HP Reporter and Performance Insight for dashboards, SLA reporting, and long-term analysis.
• Supports secure, efficient, and low-bandwidth data handling suitable for distributed environments.
